Railroad Crossings

Sure you slow down and look left and right when you come to railroad tracks - just like you were taught in Drivers Ed.

But there's another danger when you look down.

Railroad tracks can be slicker that surrounding pavement.  And they can present a real hazard to the stability of a two-wheeled vehicle - never a good thing.  It gets worse if the tracks are at an angle to the road.  In that case, it's best to slow down and , if you must, change your course to cross the tracks as close as you can to a right angle (within your lane, of course).  Also, try to have the motorcycle as close to vertical as possible when you cross, and don't touch the throttle or the brake.
