This
morning started out much like more GWRRA events.....with food! Many
of the members met in the hotel restaurant to enjoy a meal together and
get the day started.
The
Chapter Challenge was held by the hotel's pool and things got a bit
wet. With games involving wrapping teams in 5 layers of toilet paper
and walking in unison across a course, to pitching toilet lid horse shoes
and then a balloon toss. The team of "The Purple People
Eaters", (Brenda Davis, Billy Peoples, Kelles Fleming and Larry
Lingo) came
in first by one point.
Our
chapter collage came in fist during the judging and the scrapbook came in
third. The results of the Outhouse Judging, Outhouse Race and
Chapter Banner will be revealed this evening during the closing ceremonies.
The
Wacky Tacky competition finished a little bit ago. Even with Chapter
E getting the majority of the applause from the crowd, we were judged
second place for our rendition of The Dukes of Hazard the Later
Years. Chapter A was awarded first place.
The
Closing Ceremonies went
well this evening. Members from Chapter S performed a moving rendition
of God Bless American using sign language. After giving out the
remaining awards and running through the list of winners from the entire
event, Rick and Ronda revealed they are stepping down as District
Directors effective today. They have filled their 3 years and felt
that the rally was the best place to do it. Bill and Betty
Livingston are the new directors. Some of the staff has changed but
most will remain the same.
Vicki
and Ken announced that the theme for the 2007 rally is The Fabulous 50's
& 60's. It will be held June 14-16 and will return to the
Holiday Inn Skytop in Rome, Georgia.
After
the ceremonies concluded, many of the members dined together in the hotel
restaurant before retiring to the parking slot outside John and Peg's room
where we spent the time talking and reminiscing. Chapter
E will be heading back to central Georgia about 9:00 Sunday. We also
want to remind everyone that we will be meeting at the Sonic restaurant in
Barnesville on Tuesday at 7:00 for a light meal and fellowship and hope
everyone can join us.
