Saturday,
October 7 The
pickin's were slim for Chapter E at the Gum Swamp Extravaganza held by
Chapter V outside Cochran. Billy and Kelly were the only two to
make to journey to
the countryside in search of the fun promised. Billy insisted that
Kelly lead the way down. Once they arrived in Cochran, the search
for the Oak Grove Community House on Airport Road began. At the intersection,
Kelly asked Billy what way should they turn. Billy said to the right
and with Kelly knowing Billy's history for not going the correct way, they
turned right anyway. In short time it was known that going right was
the wrong thing to do.
After
making the obligatory U-turn and heading back, they began to think
something was wrong as there was no place resembling a "Community
House" in site. When all hope was about the be lost, they
noticed a group of folks off on the distance and despair turned to hope
that they finally found the right place.
The
V-Rats had some fun and unusual games to entertain the visitors.
Like a true rat race...placing 3 mice in a circle and wagering on which
one would make it outside the circle first. Also, they have a
bicycle barrel race. Now, watching folks who are use to turning a
throttle try to turn a set of peddles if quite comical.
The
meal of "road kill" hotdogs and chili couldn't have been finer
since they had live entertainment available.
Billy
and Kelly had to leave before the closing ceremonies to ensure they had
time to get Chapter E's meeting ready for a rippin' good time that
evening. But, the time they spent with the River Rats was a good one
and the day's ride was very enjoyable too.
